Have
you ever seen an advertisement for something and then decided
to go buy it?
Most of us like to think that advertising does not affect
our choices. When it comes to alcohol advertising, though,
at least some of us are wrong. One study found that when the
amount of advertising in a city increases, the amount of alcohol
people there drink also rises.
The alcohol industry in the U.S. spends more than $1 billion
on advertising each year. Thats about $20 per American
over age 21. But they advertise to everyone, not only to adults
of legal drinking age.
