Marijuana : The Dead End Drug : Amotivational Syndrome

Amotivational syndrome is a common effect of marijuana use. People who smoke a lot of marijuana, or who smoke it for a long time, begin to show many changes in their personalities. Overall, you could say that they lack energy. They seem to lose interest in the things that make life fun for most people.

Why does this happen? Scientists don’t really know for sure. In fact, some people claim that a person who already has amotivational syndrome may start smoking marijuana to feel happier. (The problem is that drugs can’t make people happy.) Most scientists agree, though, that no matter how a person felt to begin with, heavy marijuana smoking will make him or her feel worse.
